Build a segment

To create a personalized experience, you first must define the segment of your shoppers you would like to target.

Shogun provides various targeting capabilities and a robust segment builder. Click "Create your first segment..." from the Editor to open the segment builder.

Next, give the segment a Name and add some conditions that you would like to include in it. In this example, this segment is for all shoppers browsing from California in the United States. You can read more about all our targeting options below.

We are continuing to develop additional segment types. Contact us if there is a segment type that you are looking for.

Creating a Returning Visitor Segment

You can now create personalized experiences for anonymous visitors who are returning to your store. When creating a Returning Visitor segment in Shogun, you will observe a “start” date. This is the date either Shogun introduced this feature or your store installed the Shogun app.

You are able to deliver returning visitor personalized experiences only to any shopper who visited any page on your store since that date.

Using personalized experiences with Klaviyo

Shogun syncs your Klaviyo lists and segments and surfaces them within the segment builder to use when creating your segments.

To connect your Klaviyo account, select the Klaviyo targeting type in the segment builder, and you will be prompted to authenticate your account.

Once you are authenticated, you will see your Klaviyo lists and segments become available.

This integration with Klaviyo for personalized experiences is powered by Klaviyo's new Customer Data Platform (CDP) functionality. If your account does not have access to Klaviyo's CDP, you will see this message and need to get access to Klaviyo's CDP in order to continue using personalized experiences for your Klaviyo segments. Contact us if you need any support.

Customize your page variants

Now we have created our first segment, and created a variant associated with that segment. In this example, we are targeting our shoppers in California.

Once you have enabled personalized experiences on your page, you will see this variant navigation menu to jump between each of your page variants. Click on a variant to customize the experience for that segment.

In this example, let's add a personalized hero image of the Golden Gate Bridge, which will resonate with shoppers in California. When editing a variant, you can make any change to your page's layout or content that you wish.

Publish and analyze

Once you have made your desired changes to your page variants, you are ready to launch your personalized experience.

Click Publish All, and your personalized experience will go live.

When your personalized experience is live, you will find a link in the personalized experience panel to view detailed analytics of how each shopper segment is performing. Click "View analytics" to see the breakdown.

You can see how much revenue each variant drives, along with other key metrics like conversion rate, clickthrough rate, and more.
