Set up your Targeted Experience

Ready to implement personalization on your store to drive higher conversion rates? Great. Here is how you can launch a targeted experience with Shogun in just a few minutes.

Connect Klaviyo

Today, our Targeted Experiences feature supports an integration with Klaviyo's Customer Data Platform (CDP). You can read more about Klaviyo's CDP here. Read more below to understand how to leverage Targeted Experience with or without access to Klaviyo's CDP.

Klaviyo's CDP pricing starts at $500/month for 100k profiles.

To connect your Klaviyo account, open the Targeted Experience panel in the Editor, and click "Sign in to Klaviyo". This will open a new tab where you can complete authorization for this integration and that's it!

Using Targeted Experiences with Klaviyo CDP access

If you have access to Klaviyo's Customer Data Platform feature, you will see the new "CDP" tab in your Klaviyo Admin. When you publish your Targeted Experiences, Shogun's integration will automatically leverage the CDP and start delivering personalized experiences.

Using Targeted Experiences without Klaivyo CDP access

If your Klaviyo account does not have access to the CDP feature, then you will need to add a URL parameter at the end of your published page in order to deliver that page variant to your audience.

Let's say that you have a homepage on www.mystore.com published with a Targeted Experience enabled, and you want to drive a personalized version of that homepage to your VIP segment coming from Klaivyo.

First, find the Segment or List in Klaivyo and navigate to the Settings to locate the segment or list ID. Copy the ID.

Then, add your ID to your URL as a parameter as follows:

www.mystore.com?ksid=XVPBSj

By navigating to that URL, you will see your Targeted Experiences and you can link to this URL from Paid Ads and Email campaigns.

Connect Google Analytics

Connect Google Analytics in a few clicks with the Google Authorization flow. After connecting Google Analytics, Shogun will automatically create GA4 Audiences and configure event tags so that you can analyze the performance of your targeted experiences in Google Analytics. Watch the video below to learn more.

The Google Analytics is currently under review by Google and you will see this message. To complete authorization, please click "Advanced" then "Go to getshogun.com"

Seeing an error when authenticating? Please review the following requirements:

  1. Connect Google Analytics to your ecommerce platform

  2. Ensure your storefront is not password protected

  3. Ensure your Google account has adequate permissions in your Google Analytics property

    1. Administrator or Editor permissions are required in order to complete authentication.

Enable Targeted Experiences

Navigate to the Page you want to enable a Targeted Experience for in Shogun's Visual Editor. You will see a new menu item where you can open up the Targeted Experiences panel:

Here is where you can create new page variants to personalize for different segments of your audience. When you create a new variant, Shogun will duplicate your Original page design.

Build your Page Variants

Now it's time to make the changes for each page variant that you want to personalize.

Once you have enabled Targeted Experiences on your page, you will see a new dropdown in the top menu to quickly jump between your page variants within Shogun's Visual Editor.

When editing a Page Variant, you can make any change to your page's layout that you wish. You can personalize the full page, or a simple text change.

Launch your Targeted Experience

Once you have made your desired changes to your page variants, added analytics, and set up your GA4 Audiences, you are ready to launch your Targeted Experience.

Simply click Publish All and your personalized experience will go live.

Note: We will be adding support for native analytics available right in Shogun, but you can always view your targeted experiences analytics in GA4.

FAQ

  • Why am I not seeing any data in GA4?

    • Event data takes GA4 24 - 48 hours to become available in your reports. While you wait for GA4 to process your event data, you can view the Realtime view to see your events coming in.
