  4. This will automatically import the page and open it in the editor.

How to edit your imported Product Page

Congratulations on importing your Product Page from BigCommerce into Shogun! You can now edit your page.

Shogun works with your store's theme; your product page will retain its original layout upon importing. At this time, you can edit the description area of your existing product. Shogun differentiates editable areas using dropzones, namely Above, Main, and Below, where additional content can be placed. Sections outside these dropzones are tied to the product page's template or theme and cannot be edited directly in Shogun.

The location of the description area is determined by your theme's product template. To easily view the area that can be edited with Shogun, toggle the Drop Zone feature located at the top of the editor. Enabling this will display the drop zone where you can drag and drop Shogun elements to edit your page. Note that these dropzones are specifically categorized as Above, Main, and Below zones. While using Shogun, you cannot modify the permanent elements of themes, but these dropzones allow flexible content placement.

Understanding Customization Constraints

When importing product pages from platforms like BigCommerce, editable areas depend heavily on the theme layout. Content outside Shogun's defined dropzones is tied to the platform's product page template and must be edited in the ecommerce platform, not directly in Shogun.

Common Troubleshooting Scenarios

  1. Non-Editable Sections: If certain areas of the page are uneditable, confirm if the content belongs to the original theme. Adjustments to these sections must be made in the theme's template or setup.

  2. Issues Dragging Modules: In cases where modules cannot be placed, ensure the theme's header section is correctly coded. Missing or incomplete header tags can cause module placement issues.

Tips for Effective Customization

  • Choose themes optimized for third-party editors like Shogun.

  • Test theme compatibility with Shogun before making significant customizations.

  • Maintain clean template coding to minimize functionality issues.
