It’s difficult to make purchasing decisions these days.
No matter how niche a product is, there are likely dozens of brands to choose from and countless sources offering advice on the pros and cons of each option.
Who has time for all that research? Here’s one shortcut that people often take: if a product is popular, then it must be for good reason. And if they buy it as well, they’ll probably be just as satisfied with their purchase as everyone else seems to be.
This way of thinking is actually quite wise, as numerousstudies have shown that groups of people tend to be better at making decisions than individuals.
This is why every Shopify store should publish a best seller collection on their site. According to the laws of social psychology, many visitors will (and should) be interested in what your most popular products are. Recognizing these items with their own dedicated collection will help more people discover them, allowing you to generate even more sales out of your best sellers.
In this guide, we’ll go over two ways to set this up on your storefront:

Creating A Best Seller Collection using the Shopify Admin
Before you create a collection for your best sellers, you might want to take a look at your sales data to get a good sense of what these products are in the first place:
After logging in to your Shopify account, select the “Analytics” option in the left sidebar of the control panel.
Select “Reports”.
Open the “Sales by product” report.
This report will show you the gross sales, discounts, returns, and net sales for each product that has been purchased from your site.
Now, to set up your best seller collection through the Shopify admin:
Select the “Products” option in the left sidebar of the main Shopify control panel.
Select “Collections”.
Click on the “Create collection” button.
Add details such as the name, description, and image of the collection. Then, add all the items you want to be included in the collection and set the “Sort:” dropdown menu to “Best selling”.
Once you are done setting up the collection, select “Save”.
After completing these steps, your best sellers collection page will be published on the live version of your site.
How to Create a Custom Best Seller Collection using Shogun
Above, we went over how you can identify your best selling products through the Shopify admin.
With this information, you can then create your own custom best seller collection with Shogun Page Builder:
After installing Shogun, select the “Apps” option in the left sidebar of the main Shopify control panel.
Open Shogun.
Hover your cursor over “Build or edit a page”, then select “Start from scratch”.
This will take you to Shogun’s visual editor. Here, you’ll be able to access Shogun’s element library, which offers a wide variety of features that you can add to your store by simply dragging and dropping them into place.
So, to build the page for your best seller collection:
Add a “Heading” element to the top of the page and insert a line of text like “Best Sellers”.
Add a “Product Box” element to the page. This is one of Shogun’s “Shopify” elements, which means it automatically brings over data from your Shopify catalog, saving you from all the time and trouble it would take to manually enter details such as the product title, product price, and product image.
After you add the “Product Box” to the page, you’ll be prompted to select which product you want to connect it to.
Drag over any “Shopify” elements that you want to display inside the “Product Box” element. Your options include “Title”, “Description”, “Image”, “Image Gallery”, “Price”, “Variant”, “Quantity”, “Add to Cart”, “Metafield”, and “Reviews”. Again, the content for these elements will be populated automatically based on the information in your Shopify catalog.
Insert additional “Product Box” elements for each item that you’d like to include in your best seller collection. There’s no need to put too much planning into this part of the process — once all the “Product Box” elements have been added to the page, you’ll be able to rearrange them in whatever order you want.
Alternatively, you could use the “Collection” element rather than the “Product Box” element to build out your best seller collection page.
As you may have guessed, the “Collection” element pulls data from an entire collection in your Shopify catalog. This feature will help you save even more time, as it instantly creates a pre-designed “Product Box” element for each item in the collection:
Go to your Shopify account and create a collection for your best sellers.
Go to Shogun and open the visual editor.
Open the element library, click and hold on the “Collection” option, then place it wherever you want your best seller collection to be located on the page.
When prompted, connect the “Collection” element to the best seller collection you just created from within Shopify.
You’ll find that there are all sorts of ways to customize the elements within your best seller collection, including:
Product image: Determine whether the image links to the corresponding product page when clicked, choose the exact pixel size you want for the max height and width of the image, and determine whether the image has a zoom on hover effect.
Product title: Customize the heading type (h1 to h6), font (thousands of options are available), text size, text color, line height, and letter spacing. You can also have this element link to the product page as well.
Product add to cart: For this button, you have full control over details such as font, text color, background color, border color, border thickness, and border radius (how rounded the corners are). You can also create alternative designs for your button to be displayed in certain situations, such as when an item is sold out or when the visitor is hovering their cursor over the button.
You’ll be able to determine the margins and padding for each of these elements as well, so you can get everything spaced out exactly the way you want it.
There are also several customization options for the Collection element itself. You can determine whether out-of-stock items are hidden or not, choose to display your collections as either a grid or a slider, and much more.
In addition to building a page from scratch, you can use Shogun to edit a best seller collection page that already exists on your Shopify store. In that case, you’ll first need to import the page from Shopify into Shogun:
Go to the “Pages” section of the Shogun app and hover your cursor over “Build or edit a page”. Then, select “Import a page”.
Go to the “Collection” tab, then click on the “Import page” button next to the collection page that you would like to import.
For the page layout, choose the “Shopify 2.0 sections” option. Then, select “Import this page”.
After the page has been imported, you’ll be able to remove any content you want from the original page and then add in content using Shogun’s editing tools. For example, you can replace the original product grid with Shogun’s “Collection” element in order to unlock additional customization options for the styling of this section.
Whether you import a page or start from scratch, Shogun will allow you to create whatever kind of collection page you want without writing a single line of code.
