At Shogun we’re on a mission to empower brands to create exceptional ecommerce experiences.

We founded this company on the belief that when brands can build online stores, their way — it leads to more conversions, revenue, and brand loyalty. This idea first led to 18,000+ global brands like K-Swiss, Leesa, Rumpl, BeardBrand, MVMT and Fila customizing their incredible storefronts with Shogun Page Builder. And now this idea has evolved with our second product, Shogun Frontend; our end-to-end packaged headless commerce solution.

But we’re just getting started on our journey and there's a lot of work to do. We want to make it possible for every brand and ecommerce agency to create stunning headless commerce storefronts without code. We want to democratize headless commerce so that brands can focus their energy on delivering great ecommerce experiences for customers — instead of needing to build complex software, or rely on large internal development teams.

That’s why I’m excited to announce that we’ve raised $67.5 million in Series C funding led by new investor Insight Partners, with participation from our existing investors Initialized Capital, Accel, and VMG Partners.

With this latest investment, we’re in a strong position to continue accelerating product development for Shogun Frontend and rapidly scale our business. We’ve got big plans underway to help more customers build next-generation storefronts — and we can’t wait to share what’s in store.

Making headless commerce a reality for more brands

We’re particularly excited about using the funds in our vision to democratize headless commerce, where we’re seeing tremendous growth. We recently launched headless storefronts using Shogun Frontend for leading-edge brands like OneBlade, Nomad, The Feed and Undersun Fitness — and ultimately we envision a future where headless commerce is available to all brands who want to implement it via easy to use, packaged software.

It used to be that only enterprise brands with massive budgets or development teams could go headless for flexibility, but we’re making things even more accessible.

There’s no better way to share our excitement about the potential of this space than to showcase some of our recently launched headless storefronts built in partnership with agencies such as Lucid, We Make Websites, Avex, ColdSmoke, and Form Factory:

These stunning storefronts have blazing fast page-to-page load time, vastly reduced bounce rates, engaging mobile navigation, and especially rich merchandizing — all of which leads to more revenue.

More brands than ever want to create great online shopping experiences for their customers, and so on September 14, we’re bringing together our customers, partners, and experts for our inaugural Xperience Commerce conference.

Our September Virtual event, Xperience Commerce

We’ll devote an entire 1-day event to sharing ideas, best practices, and learnings on all things related to ecommerce experiences and I hope you’ll join us! You can register here.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all our amazing customers, partners, and investors who continue to support us along the way. We’re grateful we get to continue to deliver with and for you!

Thank You, Shogies

Of course, none of our growth would be possible without our incredible team (we call them Shogies!). Shogun’s headcount has grown 90% in the past six months to 160 team members. By being intentional about a fully remote, distributed work environment from the very start, we’ve been able to attract an incredibly high caliber of talent.

Recently we have built out a seasoned management team with the addition of four key executives this year, including:

  • Kristen Habacht, chief sales officer, former global head of EDR sales at Atlassian
  • Tapan Bhatt, chief marketing officer, former vice president of marketing at Splunk and PagerDuty
  • Steve Won, VP of product, former head of authentication products at Duo Security
  • Mattie Isaac, VP of people, former senior vice president of human resources at EatStreet
Kristen Habacht, Tapan Bhatt, Steve Won, and Mattie Isaac

I’m truly amazed at all that the Shogun team has accomplished over the last six years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity for us to take this next step together.

Here’s to the future of exceptional ecommerce!
