How does Autosave work?

The Autosave feature, available to all users, automatically saves your work every few seconds, preventing accidental loss of work.

Updated over a week ago

When Autosave is enabled, we automatically save your work every few seconds.

Is there any reason I wouldn't be able to use Autosave?

Global Snippets

We do not autosave Global Snippets, and this is due to the fact that this content is pushed to multiple pages via the 'Save Snippet' prompt.

Multiple Users on the same page

When multiple users are on the same page the following banner pops down off the top of the page:

What other changes are there to previous behavior?

Undo/Redo Functions

Previously, making a 'Save' to any given page in the editor would clear the Undo/Redo queue, preventing you from rolling back content change by one change increment.

With the launch of Autosave, and while it is active, you can use these buttons and we will keep the Undo/Redo queue as long as the browser window stays open.

Version History

Additionally, with respect to 'Versioning' - previously clicking 'Save' would make a new version that would appear in the Versions tool. Once you start making changes, we will automatically generate a new version. A new version will be generated again if you are idle in the editor for 10 minutes and then resume working. If you would like to generate a version, you can still click the save button manually before we autosave to generate a version.

I want to turn off/on Autosave, how do I do it?

We've added a toggle to the Settings tab of your editor experience form where you can enable and disable the feature as desired:

Interacting with this toggle will change the state for all users of the store in Shogun.
